VetCalc Terms of Use
Effective date: 24 July 2026
Last updated: 24 July 2026
These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of VetCalc.biz, including its calculators, clinical scores, reference tools, educational materials, account features, saved calculations and related services.
Please read these terms carefully before using VetCalc.
By accessing the website, creating an account or using any VetCalc tool, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, you must not use VetCalc.
These terms should be read alongside the VetCalc:
- Privacy Policy;
- Cookie Policy; and
- Disclaimer & Legal Information.
1. About VetCalc
VetCalc is an online veterinary decision-support and educational platform providing calculators, formulas, clinical scores, reference tools and supporting content.
Website: VetCalc.biz
Email: support@vetcalc.biz
2. Who may use VetCalc
VetCalc is intended primarily for:
- veterinarians and veterinary surgeons;
- veterinary nurses;
- veterinary technicians;
- students;
- researchers;
- academics;
- animal-health professionals; and
- other appropriately trained users.
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account unless VetCalc expressly provides a supervised educational service for younger users.
By creating an account, you confirm that the information you provide is accurate, complete and current.
Access to VetCalc does not confirm that you are appropriately qualified, registered, licensed or authorised to perform any clinical activity.
3. Clinical decision-support only
VetCalc provides decision-support and educational resources. It does not provide veterinary services and does not replace professional judgement.
VetCalc must not be used as a substitute for:
- examination of an animal;
- diagnostic testing;
- clinical assessment;
- current medicines information;
- local protocols;
- applicable legislation;
- professional guidance;
- consultation with a suitably qualified colleague; or
- emergency veterinary care.
Users remain responsible for every clinical decision and action taken in connection with a VetCalc result.
RCVS guidance makes clear that veterinary surgeons and veterinary nurses retain personal professional responsibility for complying with professional standards and remain accountable for their decisions and actions.
4. No veterinarian-client-patient relationship
Use of VetCalc does not create:
- a veterinarian-client-patient relationship;
- a professional advisory relationship;
- a duty to examine or treat an animal;
- a prescribing relationship; or
- any form of professional retainer.
VetCalc does not provide personalised veterinary advice to animal owners.
Animal owners should contact a veterinary practice for advice concerning an individual animal. Emergencies must be referred for urgent veterinary assessment without waiting for a VetCalc result.
5. Your responsibility when using calculators
Before relying on any result, you must check:
- that you selected the correct calculator;
- that the calculator is suitable for the relevant species and population;
- that each input is accurate;
- that the correct units were selected;
- that conversions were performed correctly;
- that the formula and source are suitable for the circumstances;
- that the result is clinically plausible; and
- that current professional guidance has been considered.
You must not rely on a result that conflicts with the clinical presentation without independently checking the calculation and source.
Species, breed, age, body size, physiological state, laboratory method, disease status and treatment context can materially affect the relevance of a calculation.
6. Medicines, doses and treatment information
Any medicine-related calculation or content is provided solely as professional decision support.
Before prescribing, supplying, dispensing, administering or recommending any medicine, you must independently confirm:
- the species and patient;
- body weight;
- indication;
- product and formulation;
- concentration;
- dose;
- route;
- frequency;
- duration;
- contraindications;
- interactions;
- maximum dose;
- withdrawal period;
- legal classification;
- prescribing authority;
- applicable cascade requirements; and
- current product literature.
VetCalc does not authorise the use of any medicine or treatment.
7. Accounts
Some VetCalc features may require an account.
You are responsible for:
- maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials;
- using a strong and unique password;
- preventing unauthorised access;
- keeping your account information current; and
- notifying us promptly of suspected misuse.
You must not share your account with another person unless VetCalc expressly permits organisational or team access.
We may require email verification or professional-registration information before enabling certain features.
8. Professional verification
VetCalc may allow users to submit professional-registration details.
Verification may involve:
- comparison with a public professional register;
- automated checks;
- manual review;
- professional email checks; or
- requests for additional evidence.
Verification only indicates that the submitted details appeared to satisfy the checks performed at the time.
It does not guarantee:
- professional competence;
- current employment;
- good standing;
- fitness to practise;
- appropriate insurance;
- authority to prescribe;
- or suitability for a particular clinical task.
We may withdraw or change a verification status if information appears inaccurate, incomplete, expired or misleading.
9. Acceptable use
You may use VetCalc only for lawful professional, educational, research or personal purposes.
You must not:
- submit false identity or registration details;
- impersonate another person;
- use another user’s account without permission;
- gain or attempt to gain unauthorised access;
- bypass account restrictions or security controls;
- interfere with the website or its infrastructure;
- introduce malware, malicious scripts or harmful code;
- conduct automated scraping without written permission;
- copy the calculator library into a competing service;
- reverse engineer or extract the platform’s source code;
- use VetCalc to facilitate unlawful veterinary practice;
- enter information that you have no right to process;
- upload defamatory, illegal or infringing content;
- use the platform in a way that could harm animals, users or third parties; or
- use VetCalc to generate misleading professional, regulatory or clinical claims.
We may investigate suspected misuse and suspend or terminate access where reasonably necessary.
10. Saved calculations and records
VetCalc may allow users to save:
- calculations;
- favourites;
- incomplete workflows;
- references;
- recent activity; and
- account preferences.
Saved calculations are convenience features only.
Unless VetCalc and your organisation have expressly agreed otherwise, saved calculations are not intended to replace an authorised clinical record or practice-management system.
You remain responsible for creating and maintaining all records required by:
- professional rules;
- workplace policies;
- medicines legislation;
- insurance requirements; and
- applicable law.
Do not enter unnecessary identifying information about clients, owners, employees or animals.
11. User-submitted information
You retain responsibility for information you submit to VetCalc.
You confirm that:
- you are entitled to submit it;
- it is not unlawful or misleading;
- it does not infringe another person’s rights; and
- its submission complies with professional confidentiality obligations.
You grant VetCalc the limited rights necessary to store, process and display that information for the purpose of providing the requested service.
We may remove information that breaches these terms or presents a security, legal or safety risk.
12. Accuracy and availability
We aim to make VetCalc accurate, useful and reliable. However, we do not guarantee that every calculator, reference or page will always be:
- error-free;
- complete;
- current;
- available;
- suitable for every species;
- suitable for every jurisdiction; or
- appropriate for every clinical situation.
Tools may contain limitations arising from their original evidence base, validation population or publication date.
We may correct, update, replace, suspend or withdraw tools without notice.
13. Updates and calculator versions
A calculator may be changed when:
- new evidence becomes available;
- guidelines change;
- an error is identified;
- the user interface is improved;
- regulatory requirements change; or
- the source methodology is revised.
A result generated previously may not have been calculated using the current version.
Users should retain any source, version or calculation information needed for their own records.
14. Intellectual property
Unless otherwise stated, VetCalc or its licensors own the intellectual-property rights in:
- the VetCalc name and branding;
- website design;
- platform software;
- original text and graphics;
- database selection and organisation;
- user-interface elements; and
- original implementation of calculators and tools.
You may use VetCalc results for legitimate clinical, professional, educational and personal purposes.
You must not, without prior written permission:
- reproduce substantial portions of the platform;
- republish calculators as your own;
- copy the database or tool catalogue;
- sell or license VetCalc content;
- create a derivative commercial platform;
- remove ownership notices;
- use VetCalc branding to imply endorsement;
- frame or mirror the website; or
- use automated systems to extract content at scale.
Clinical formulas, scores, publications, trademarks and referenced materials may belong to their respective owners.
15. Linking to VetCalc
You may link to publicly available VetCalc pages provided that the link:
- is lawful and fair;
- does not damage our reputation;
- does not imply an endorsement or partnership;
- does not misrepresent the linked content; and
- does not place VetCalc within a misleading frame or interface.
We may request removal of a link that is deceptive, harmful or unlawful.
16. Third-party content and links
VetCalc may link to or display information from:
- journals;
- professional regulators;
- medicines resources;
- external databases;
- advertisers;
- publishers;
- video providers; and
- other third parties.
We do not control third-party services and are not responsible for their content, availability, accuracy, security or privacy practices.
Links are provided for convenience and do not necessarily amount to endorsement.
17. Advertising and sponsorship
VetCalc may display advertisements, sponsorship or promoted content.
Advertising should be identified separately from independent clinical content.
The appearance of an advertisement does not mean that VetCalc endorses:
- the advertiser;
- a product;
- a medicine;
- a treatment;
- a claim; or
- a commercial service.
Advertising must not override a veterinary professional’s independent clinical judgement. RCVS guidance similarly states that advertising or endorsement claims should not affect the clinical freedom and decision-making of veterinary professionals.
18. Artificial intelligence
VetCalc may use artificial intelligence to assist with drafting, organising, reviewing or presenting content.
AI-assisted content may contain errors, omissions or outdated information.
You must not treat AI-assisted material as authoritative solely because it appears detailed or confident.
Clinical content must be checked against appropriate evidence, current guidance and professional judgement.
19. Privacy and cookies
Our collection and use of personal information are governed by the VetCalc Privacy Policy.
Our use of cookies and similar technologies is explained in the VetCalc Cookie Policy.
By using VetCalc, you acknowledge that essential technologies may be used to operate accounts, security and requested website functions.
Optional technologies will be controlled in accordance with applicable consent requirements.
20. Suspension and termination
We may suspend, restrict or terminate access where we reasonably believe that:
- these terms have been breached;
- false information has been supplied;
- an account has been compromised;
- the platform is being abused;
- unlawful activity is involved;
- continued access presents a security or safety risk; or
- suspension is needed to comply with law or regulation.
Where appropriate, we may give notice and an opportunity to correct the issue.
You may stop using VetCalc at any time and may request account deletion subject to applicable retention requirements.
21. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where exclusion or limitation would be unlawful.
In particular, nothing excludes or limits liability for:
- death or personal injury caused by negligence;
- fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; or
- any other liability that cannot legally be excluded.
UK law does not permit contractual terms to exclude liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence. Other attempts to restrict negligence liability may also be subject to legal reasonableness requirements.
Subject to those protections, and to the fullest extent permitted by law, VetCalc will not be liable for loss arising from:
- inaccurate or incomplete user inputs;
- incorrect units;
- selection of an unsuitable calculator;
- use outside the intended species or population;
- failure to verify a result;
- failure to consult current source material;
- clinical decisions made by a user;
- loss of saved calculations;
- temporary website unavailability;
- third-party websites or services;
- unauthorised account access caused by the user; or
- use of VetCalc contrary to these terms.
Where you use VetCalc for business or professional purposes, we will not be liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of revenue, loss of opportunity, loss of goodwill or loss of anticipated savings, except where such exclusion is unlawful.
22. Consumer rights
Nothing in these terms affects any mandatory consumer rights that apply to you.
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, contractual terms and consumer notices must be fair, and an unfair term is not binding on a consumer. Digital content supplied under a consumer contract may also be subject to statutory requirements concerning quality, fitness for purpose and correspondence with its description.
Where a mandatory legal right conflicts with these terms, the mandatory right will prevail.
23. Indemnity for misuse
Where you use VetCalc in the course of a business or profession, you agree to be responsible for reasonable losses, claims and costs incurred by VetCalc as a direct result of:
- your unlawful use of the platform;
- your deliberate breach of these terms;
- infringement caused by content you submit; or
- misuse of VetCalc through your account.
This clause does not apply where the loss was caused by VetCalc or where its application would be unfair or unlawful.
24. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms to reflect:
- changes to VetCalc;
- new tools or services;
- legal or regulatory developments;
- security requirements; or
- changes to our business operations.
The updated terms will be published on this page with a revised date.
Where a change materially affects registered users, we may provide additional notice or request renewed acceptance.
Continued use after an updated version takes effect constitutes acceptance where legally permitted.
25. Transfer of rights
We may transfer our rights and obligations under these terms as part of:
- a company reorganisation;
- merger;
- acquisition;
- sale of the VetCalc business; or
- transfer to another operator.
Any transfer will not reduce mandatory rights or data-protection safeguards.
You may not transfer your account or rights under these terms without our written permission.
26. Severability
If any provision of these terms is found to be invalid, unlawful or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in effect.
The affected provision will be interpreted or adjusted only to the extent necessary to make it valid and enforceable where legally possible.
27. No waiver
If we do not immediately enforce a provision of these terms, that does not mean we have waived the right to enforce it later.
28. Entire agreement
These Terms of Use, together with the documents expressly referred to in them, form the agreement governing your use of VetCalc.
They do not exclude liability for fraudulent statements or override rights that cannot lawfully be limited.
29. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, unless mandatory law requires otherwise.
If you use VetCalc as a business or professional user, the courts of England and Wales will have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising from these terms.
If you are legally treated as a consumer, you may also have the right to bring proceedings in the part of the United Kingdom or other jurisdiction where you live.

Important clinical notice
VetCalc supports professional decision-making but does not make clinical decisions. Check the animal, the inputs, the units, the source and the result before taking action.
